Journal 76 Too Much Violence
Hello there. How was your week?
Here in America we have had too much violence lately. It is not good. It is becoming too normal. I remember a few years ago reading about a politician in Germany who was killed around their house. And I said, “Wow that would never happen in America.” Now, I am sad to see this in America.
The recent killing of Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist, reminded me of the recent killing of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark Hortman, and their dog. Out of all the protests and events happening during that time, her assassination stood out to me as the most significant and disturbing event. She was an actual politician, but people weren’t calling it political violence.
But in either case, people don’t just go killing politicians or activists in America! These are some really tough times and we all have to use our moral compasses and brains to find the solutions. It’s easy to lash out, but it’s hard to keep the peace.
Speaking of tough times, who has it worst than Palestine? I see the genocide still happening and I am so heartbroken. I am mystified at the level of impunity granted to Isreal. And there are other conflicts in other places of the world Americans don’t even hear about. I have to go on multiple international news sites to learn about these things.
Well, that sums ups our not-so-cheerful post this week.
I hope you have a safe week, that your family is safe, and that you are able to navigate this crazy world right now. Stay strong!
