Journal 67 Mental Discomfort Versus Physical Discomfort

Hello girls.

WOW what a week it was here in New Jersey. So hot, humid, and there was flooding.

My town is very quiet. Lots of people are away at summer homes or on vacation. Not me, I have not really had a vacation in eight or nine years! Hahaha... ha.. ha... Maybe we can have a special party on here for the no-vacationers. I have a funny story to share if we do that.

This was an interesting week. A regular major stressor was absent. On the other hand, I was busier than usual, and had to do many things while helping everyone survive the weather.

I could only air out the house in the early morning and late evening. The air conditioning is not in the best condition, so I supplemented with fans. There was so much to do. One day I probably walked 20,000 steps inside the house.

I drank so much water, often with a little salt or store-bought lemonade. I worked very hard to keep my cat cool. She has a double fur coat, so the heat can really affect her. I gave her so much water. I add it to her wet food. It helps her so much. She also needs fresh air and exercise to make good bowel movements so I needed to time everything just right. Thankfully it all paid off and she didn’t seem too phased by the end of the week!

Here is what is interesting: The week was hard work, but with the stressful element removed, I felt so much better by the end. Physical discomfort is so much easier than mental discomfort.

My mood was calm, all allergies were gone, and any small aches were gone. And I only slept five or six hours a night, but felt well-rested every morning. By the end of the week, I felt like lots of small mental and physical kinks inside of me were undone.

It’s alarming what stress can do to you!

I hope whether you take a vacation or not, that you will find some relief from whatever has been a stressor to you.

Thank you for spending time with me,

Asya
