Journal 126 Positive AI, Elden Ring, Geronimo Stilton

Hello girls.

How was your week?

Lately I have been feeling more positive about AI. But it really depends on what you use it for. It has been interesting discovering positive uses. It has actually brought back a spark into computers and the internet that I haven’t felt in a while.

The most important thing to remember is that it is an emotionless machine. And this was the exact joy I had for technology when I was a teen. I used technology to research things, utilized it to build on my ideas, and used applications for art and movie making.

It was a wonderful reliable cold companion.

Then everything changed. Then the technology was being used to tell me what to do, tell me what to think. It used to be liberating, now it has become enslaving.

Any openings I found when I was a teen are now harder to find for the younger generation. I would have suffocated in the mainstream American culture if that was all I had.

Hopefully AI will help people the same way computers and the internet used to be capable of helping.

AI used for image generation is a separate issue. I hope to share my thoughts on this soon.

I have started playing a new video game, Elden Ring. I am thinking of this video game as a completely separate thing from The Lord of the Rings.

I have only just started, so we’ll see how it goes. I am interested in the idea of a big open world to explore, but I dislike cruelty and pointless violence. Any sort of online interaction with real people is also a hard no.

Unfortunately this game was only released with the sneaky “key” system on the Switch, so we had to connect the Switch to the internet even though we never felt the need with the real cartridges. But now, disconnecting it from the internet is a pain. It shouldn’t be so hard.

But I am trying to play the game and push through the beginning. Usually the onboarding tutorial procedure is so tough for me! It was tough in Zelda: Breath of the Wild too.

I created a really cute character. I made her an Astrologer. That sounded good. I imagined her frolicking through the hills with a magic stick not bothering anybody.

Another new thing: I have a new book! It is Geronimo Stilton Viaggio Nel Tempo. The Italian is still too advanced for me, but I am surprised how much I can understand! It is so cute. I like all of his friends.
