Journal 102 Censorship of Sensuality
Hello girls.
How was your week? How is your life going amongst the conscienceless things happening in this world right now?
I am sick of drones and other military aircraft flying overhead. This has been going on since December 2024. Our news does not cover what this has been for. It’s so invasive!
That December, I had to do something I never expected I would have to do in the United States of America: I closed the curtains worrying about state surveillance. I even feel uncomfortable underneath the ceiling windows. Even as I write this, I can see them trawling by through the skylight. It’s so creepy! At night when I have to use the bathroom and I’m undressed, I listen and wait until one passes, scuttle to the bathroom, and hurry back before another one comes.
This weekend I was also mad because one of my favorite YouTuber’s videos were removed. She posted beautiful aesthetic cooking videos. They transported me to her lovely kitchen. Some scenes were flirty and cheeky but not gross or crude. Her videos stayed well within purview.
The other night, my partner, my cat, and I were perusing the latest contemporary music. One of the most popular new songs in America has a music video featuring a young woman gyrating in her underwear. Nothing new, not for many decades.
Another family member made an excellent point. She caught a glimpse of the music video and wasn’t a fan. But she really enjoyed the cooking girl’s YouTube videos and was sad to hear they were taken down. “So her cooking videos get censored, even though she doesn’t mean them sexually, but the girl dancing in her underwear shaking herself into the camera is okay? Who gets to decide that?!” She was angry haha.
The independent cooking woman gets censored for her staid videos, but the popular dancing lady in the underwear is allowed?
But it’s not about the amount of clothing. Nudity can be totally nonsexual or clothing can be used in a dirty way. In this situation, the music video was not for me, but maybe someone else likes it, so I have no right to try and censor it.
So why do others want to censor all things artistic, nude, sensual, erotic, and sexual for me? Why is it any of their business?
But this wasn’t one sensitive individual who happened to work at YouTube who took down her videos, but a systemic global clampdown on sex.
Lookee here children, female nipples are evil, but swinging is so much fun!!!
Hope this gives you something to ponder. Sex is an important part of life and people deserve to experience it with freedom, safety, and dignity. Art is an important form of human expression, and for artists it is an essential act. Do you think anyone has the right to control sex or art, or the occasions where they meld, in your life?
Thank you so much for reading. Please have a safe and peaceful week ahead.
