Art Post: Sketching Toruses

Hi there!

Today I was planning on drawing a lovely beach, with sand and turquoise waters moving in gentle waves making soft white foam.

But somehow I ended up sketching toruses! Good thing too, it was very beneficial.

I have some hand exercise tools, and I thought they would be great to sketch. But I bit off more than I could chew... the torus is a hard shape, I put out three of them, they were different colors, semi-transparent, and I took photos at random angles.

Here are my sketches:

I always heard that it is incredibly important to draw shapes. But I didn't understand how to start. I don’t think I ever heard or read a very good explanation on this topic.

Looking forward to figuring this out! Do I need to buy wooden blocks? Vases? Wax fruit?

Please have a great end to your week!
