Art Post: Mulling Anti-Art Laws
Hello.
Not too much artistic stuff has been going on with me lately. Been mulling over the anti-art laws. They are unjustifiable.
I am glad that for the last thirty-one years of my life, I felt free in the artistic realm. My brain developed in freedom. I felt like I had the freedom to draw whatever my heart desired. (This is America, for goodness sakes!) Even if for years, it hasn’t been true. As a teen, I obviously drew dirty pictures. My friends drew dirty pictures. We were just growing up.
Somehow, someway, these anti-art laws and their surrounding fear will facilitate the goals of sex criminals. Everyone knows sex criminals love to give off an image of propriety. They like to make others uncomfortable being around children. Fewer normal people means fewer community eyes, fewer noses to smell when someone is off... the better for them.
Nobody wants to talk about these monsters. This is an overwhelming problem in our society, and it is usually not the imaginary pervert lurking in the bushes, it is the father, or uncle, or brother at home. Well, some storytellers do want to take this on. I want to use art to take this on.
And now I find out, I have to walk on eggshells with sensitive content.
How convenient.
