Art Post: Heavy Metal Movie

Hello everyone. 

Recently I came across an animated movie called Heavy Metal (1981). At first I really didn’t like it and almost turned it off. But then I became very interested in it, watched in amazement, and loved the ending.

Since then, it’s been in my brain, and I even got the desire to rewatch it. Truly just to see it again. That usually doesn’t happen to me these days!

Some parts of the movie were pretty scary. Even scarier as more of the story unfolded. But differently than in movies today, which are usually just plain disturbing to me. 

Another aspect of the movie I enjoyed was the use of nudity.

Over the years I have spent so much time trying to find things to watch. How did I never hear about this movie? I learned that it was based on stories originally published in a magazine called Heavy Metal. It featured predominantly European comic book artists. I’d like to learn more about it!
