Art Post: Beauty & Death Photo

Hi guys!

As much as I wanted to introduce another member of Iggy's crew today, I have found myself super busy preparing for this weekend.

So here is a photo from our travels. This was taken in the Colorado River basin in California. It was very beautiful and peaceful. But it also looked like Mordor: there were gray clouds that never left the gray mountains.

We had a scary incident happen in this location, which we never saw coming! We felt very sluggish in this area, and we started to get very sleepy. Our cat especially was sleeping more than usual. We thought we were just relaxing.

The entire time we were there, the valley had a peculiar smell... Then our carbon monoxide detector started chirping, and it was reading a significant amount of carbon monoxide!!! No wonder we were passing out! It wasn't enough to trigger the full alarm, but it was enough to let us know something was weird. The meter usually read zero even next to a butane stove.

We hightailed it out of there and slept at a rest stop.

Turns out, we were caught in an inversion. We knew about these, from looking into living in Salt Lake City, but just didn't put it together. There was a highway nearby, and the exhaust was trapped in the valley.

So please consider keeping a sensitive high quality carbon monoxide meter around. It can really help!

Please have a great end to your week!
